PhD

So...It would make sense that during the last year of my MFA, I would start to seriously consider pursuing a PhD...
{It actually makes no sense, since graduation next summer isn't guaranteed, I still haven't written my thesis and I am so broke from the last 3 years that I probably will need to work overtime the rest of my life just to avoid this debt. But,  I digress...}
Santa Cruz has this amazing PhD program that would be an hour from the region I want to live in —with very interesting faculty and research areas. I think it would be financial suicide, but if I do this now, I could possibly be able to finish before I'm 40.  It seems so much like a dream right now.

Possible areas of research that I'm interested in: American Women in Photography, The Gaze in American Photography, Dialogical Theory as applied to Contemporary Criticism, The Romantic Revival in Western Contemporary Art...
