Kara Hearn

I've been following Kara Hearn's work ever since she participated in Miranda July's online Learning to Love You More gig back in 2004. Her scrappy DIY video-stylings and situationist projects break with traditional narrative schemas and inquire intimately into how we share stories and engage with each other as human beings.

What is really amazing is that we do so much, if not more through mediated experiences (movies, tv, art, music, literature, video games, dreams, fantasies) than through actual direct lived experiences. And we still come out feeling like we’re on some sort of heroic journey.

The idea of trying to capture or still what can only be transient or lived-through is fascinating to me. It's something I'm working through in my own body of work.
